What are the different options available with regards to racehorse ownership? Racehorse partnerships offer the chance to become an owner of a horse but with the cost split between the shareholders.
There is a maximum of 20 owners in a partnership. Where possible we like to restrict the number of partners in order to ensure they derive optimum benefits from their involvement People are able to buy more than one share in a horse if they wish. Partnership shareholders receive a return from the sale of the horse, together with any other proceeds (from prize-money, etc), upon taking account at the end of the contract.
Racing clubs offer the chance to experience the excitement of being involved with racehorses at a fraction of the cost of a partnership. Although members lease, rather than own, an interest in the club’s horses, they still receive full updates, invitations to stable visits, the chance to apply for an owners & trainers badge, a percentage of any winnings and other stated benefits.
Our clubs are managed in the same way as our partnerships, running for a specifically stated duration and offering a number of popular benefits.
How do I keep updated on my horse(s)?
We offer various ways of keeping you informed about your horse(s).
The main means of acquiring the latest information is through our website, which features a regularly updated journal on the horses’ progress, details of forthcoming entries, news from the training centres with video coverage (when available) and plans for any forthcoming social engagements and functions. You can register to receive email updates if you prefer.
For those of you without regular access to the web we are able to post updates by first class mail.
Partnership owners receive text message updates to their phone at no extra cost. Club members can choose to register for text message updates at a modest charge. Members are free to unsubscribe at any time.
Club members will have access to a recorded message which is updated twice a week with news. Another line will carry in information about forthcoming entries.
How can I register my interest? To keep updated with news of partnership opportunities, and the progress of the club, visit Marten’s website (www.martenjulian.com) or register for our free email newsletter through our homepage.
How much does it cost? The cost depends on whether you choose a partnership or our club. In the case of a partnership the cost is determined by the purchase price of the horse, the number of owners and the training fees.
We try to keep the cost of Club membership as reasonable as possible but one of the main factors is the number of horses, and members, in the club and the cost of related benefits.
Why do your partnerships only run for a fixed period?
We are legally required to inform people of their total financial commitment. If at the end of a partnership all the owners want to stay involved the contract may be extended.
Why does your club only run for a fixed period?
We would like members of our club to feel closely involved with the horses at every stage, from preparation for racing to retirement or sale so, to enable this to happen, there is a strictly stated duration for the life of the club.
What sets us apart from other racing clubs?
